University of Wisconsin-Madison and Center for Human Resource Research, Ohio State University

Years on the NLS team: 1997-2004

Role: I served as principal investigator for the 1997 cohort.

What innovations have I helped introduce to the NLS

We had a survey methodology group operating for several years. The group improved showcards and question wording and implemented a few random experiments on alternative questions.

Why am I proud to be part of the NLS team

The NLS is one of the first prospective longitudinal household surveys to be fielded in the United Sates. Its longevity is testimony to its excellence. Information provided by the NLS surveys on household behavior has influenced U.S. government policy and has shaped social science research for the last five decades. The program is vibrant and dynamic and will continue to shape research agendas and inform the public debate for the foreseeable future.
