Years on the NLS team: 1998-present

Role: I help to design the NLSY questionnaires. I think about what data researchers will use and how to ask questions to collect that data. I also use the data once it is collected; in the process of using the data, we find ways the data files can be improved for researchers.

Why am I proud to be part of the NLS team

I am proud of the richness of these data. Although the focus of the NLS is labor force and employment behavior, because other aspects of the respondents’ live influence work decisions, the NLS takes a holistic approach to capturing information about the respondents’ lives. We ask about a variety of topics that may affect work behavior. The richness of these data have permitted studies on a wide range of topics.
