Years on the NLS team: 2011-present
Role: As part of the NLSY79 Child team, I update and test the NLSY79 Child survey instrument and write programs in SAS to create composite variables and test scores. I also work on documentation for the NLSY79 Child survey, and have presented information about NLS surveys at academic conferences.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job has been the opportunity to present information about the NLS at academic conferences. It is gratifying to watch as eager students listen wide-eyed when you give them a glimpse of the breadth and depth of the NLS! Long-time NLS users stop by express their thanks or to introduce their students to all the NLS has to offer. These types of interactions with users make me incredibly proud to be a part of the National Longitudinal Surveys.
